Marques Valdes-Scantling was born on October 10, 1994 in St. Petersburg, Florida. Valdes-Scantling attended Lakewood High School in St. Petersburg and as a senior team captain, had 50 receptions for 800 yards and 14 touchdowns. The 6’4″, 206 pound Valdes-Scantling started his collegiate career at North Carolina State where he played in 2013 and 2014. In those two seasons, Valdes-Scantling had 44 receptions for 538 yards and one touchdown.
The Florida native then transferred closer to home when he went to South Florida, which is located in Tampa. In two seasons with the Bulls, Valdes-Scantling had 75 catches for 1,294 yards and 12 touchdowns. He was definitely a deep threat for South Florida, as he averaged 17.3 yards per catch in his two years as a Bull.
Valdes-Scantling was drafted in the fifth round of the 2018 NFL draft by the Green Bay Packers after running a 4.37 in the 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine. Valdes-Scantling has continued to be a deep threat in the NFL, as in two seasons has averaged 16.1 yards per catch. As a rookie in 2018, Valdes-Scantling caught 38 passes for 581 yards and two touchdowns, with his long gain covering 60 yards. In 2019, Valdes-Scantling caught 26 passes for 452 yards and two scores, with his longest touchdown being a 74-yard reception against the Oakland Raiders at Lambeau Field.
Valdes-Scantling participated in the Green Bay Packers Give Back Bowling Event. Also, in 2017 for Christmas, Valdes-Scantling and his father Marcellus, distributed duffel bags filled with blankets, clothing, toiletry supplies and other items to homeless people in Tampa and St. Petersburg.
