Micah Hyde’s High School Career

Micah Hyde was born in Fostoria, Ohio, a small town with a population of around 13,000. Hyde
attended Fostoria High School, where he played football as well as basketball.

As the quarterback at Fostoria, Hyde became a big name in Ohio high school football. He was
named Ohio Division IV offensive player of the year and First Team All-State. Among other
accolades, Hyde held 24 school records on offense at Fostoria.

Hyde also saw snaps on the defensive side in high school, finishing his high school career with
165 tackles and eight interceptions

Hyde was not a highly recruited player coming out of high school. Though he had some looks
from major schools, He enrolled to Iowa University; a school that always seemed to believe in
him.

Micah Hyde Falls in the Line of Defensive Stars at Iowa

Despite being a dominant force on offense in high school, Hyde found his role on the Iowa
football team as a defensive back. In his freshman season, Hyde saw the field for all 13 games
that year but only recorded four solo tackles

In his sophomore year, Hyde took a big jump into the starting role on defense. He started all 13
games and was second on the team in tackles and interceptions. He also led the team in pass
deflections. Hyde had a game changing interception returned for a touchdown to beat Missouri in
their bowl game

For his junior season, Hyde moved between playing the safety and cornerback position. He tied
for first in the Big Ten with passes defended and was recognized as a first team all-Big Ten by
College Football Madness

In his senior season, Hyde recorded 44 solo tackles and 34 assists and was named First team allBig Ten as well the Tatum-Woodson Defensive Back of the Year; and award given to the best
defensive back in the Big Ten.

Hyde would go on to be drafted in the fifth round by the Green Bay Packers as the 159th pick in
the 2013 NFL Draft.

Hyde Solidified Himself as an NFL-Caliber Player

In his rookie season, Hyde saw a good amount of playing time. He appeared in all 16 games of

the 2013 season while starting in three. He had 55 total tackles, 41 solo and 14 assists. He also
recorded one sack and a forced fumble.

Hyde would spend four years with the Green Bay Packers and would become a starter for the
team at the safety position. He totaled over 55 tackles in all four seasons and had 8 interceptions
in his time with Green Bay.

In 2017, Hyde signed a 5-year contract with the Buffalo Bills. He continued to progress as a
defensive player. In his first year as a member of the Bills, Hyde racked up a carer high 82 total
tackles, with 65 solo tackles. He also tied for first on the team with 5 interceptions. This stellar
year led Hyde to his first Pro-Bowl appearance.

Hyde has stayed with the Bills since his first signing in 2017 an has put together solid seasons for
most of them, other than 2022 where he suffered a neck injury, leaving him sidelined for most of
the season.
