Jayden Reed was born in Naperville, Illinois and attended Metea Valley High School before transferring to Naperville Central for his senior year. He recorded 1,792 yards, 60 receptions and 20 touchdowns in his high school career.
Reed was named Team MVP and Offensive Player of the Year for Naperville Central in his one season on the team.
Despite a solid high school career Reed was only a three-star recruit and had four offers: Western Michigan, Toledo, Miami, and Michigan Central. He accepted the offer from Western Michigan University.
As a freshman at Western Michigan, Reed had 56 receptions, 797 yards and eight touchdowns. He transferred to Michigan State after just one season with the Broncos.
Reed sat out and redshirted his first season at Michigan State due to NCAA transfer rules. However, in 2020 he started all seven games during the COVID-19 shortened season. He recorded 33 receptions, 407 yards, and three touchdowns.
The following season he put together his best collegiate season. In 13 games he had 59 receptions, 1,026 yards and 11 total touchdowns. He earned first-team All-America honors as a redshirt junior in 2021 by the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) as an all-purpose player and was also a finalist for the Paul Hornung Award.
In his final season at Michigan State he put together 55 receptions in 11 games with five touchdowns.
His impactful career at Michigan State placed him among the school’s all-time leaders in receptions (sixth with 147), touchdown catches (tied for seventh with 18) and receiving yards (12th with 2,069). Reed also accumulated 581 punt return yards and 841 kick return yards in his career.
Reed was selected in the second round of the 2023 NFL draft by the Green Bay Packers
It did not take long for Reed to make in impact in the NFL. In his first career game he not only started, but also caught two passes for 48 yards. He also returned three punts for 54 yards. In his second career game he caught two touchdown passes against the Atlanta Falcons.
Reed ended up starting 13 games as a rookie and became a versatile piece of the Packers offense. As a receiver he had 64 receptions, 793 yards, and eight touchdowns. He also had 119 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns.
Reed finished the season tied for second most touchdowns by a rookie in 2023. He was tied for the most by a rookie receiver along with Jordan Addison. In 2024 Reed enters the season as an established weapon for the Packers offense.
