Evan Williams
Evan Williams is a California Native who is now making a name for himself in the National Football League for the Green Bay Packers.
Williams started his college career at Fresno State University. He spent four seasons with the Bulldogs before he transferred to Oregon to play in the Pac-12. At Freson State, he played 39 games. He had four interceptions, 227 tackles, 12 tackles for a loss and 14 passes defended.
He transferred to Oregon for his final season. In 13 games, he had 82 tackles, five tackles for a loss, 4 1/2 sacks and two passes defended. The Packers selected him in the fourth round with the 11th overall pick of the 2024 NFL Draft.
Williams was the second safety selected by the Packers in the 2024 draft. The team selected Javon Bullard in the second round, but Williams ended up making a huge impact for the team. Williams' success was predictable after his teammates could not stop praising him during the offseason practices.
Williams made six starts as a rookie, but played 56% of defensive snaps in his first season. He filled a huge hole in the defense after the team let Darnell Savage walk in free agency. Williams had a forced fumble, three passes defended, 49 tackles and an interception as a rookie.
He started the Packers' playoff game against the Philadelphia Eagles, showing how much the Packers trust him. He missed the final three regular-season games, but quickly found himself back in the starting lineup in the most important game of the season.
Williams’ ability to tackle is something the Packers coveted at the position. He has great range and showed time and time again as a rookie the impact he can have in the run game and taking away run after catch.
