Eddie Lacy was born in Gretna Louisiana, a town affected by Hurricane Katrina which forced his family to move to Geismar, Louisiana. He attended Dutchtown High School and became a top player in the country. In three years of high school football, Lacy ran for a total of 4,053 yards, including a 1,800 in the 2007 season. He also scored a total of 62 rushing touchdowns.
As a 4-star recruit and the 16th top recruited running back out of high school, Lacy received many offers for football. He committed to play at the University of Alabama
Lacy started his college career behind the cleats of two future first-round running backs. In his freshman year, he still racked up 406 rushing yards and six touchdowns.
In his senior year, he rushed for 1,322 yards and 17 touchdowns, while adding two more receiving scores. He was number one in the SEC for most yards from scrimmage with 1,511. Lacy led Alabama to a national championship victory over Notre Dame, earning Offensive MVP. This was Lacy’s third championship win during his time at Alabama.
Lacy was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the second round as the 61st overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft.
Lacy starred in hist first season in the NFL. As a rookie, he started all 15 games he played and had 1,178 total rushing yards and 11 touchdowns. He won the Offensive Rookie of the Year award, the first Packers player to win it in over forty years. He also was selected as a Second Team All-Pro. He was a key pice in keeping the Packers in the playoff race while Aaron Rodgers was injured.
Lacy followed up with another 1,000 rushing-yard season and added nine touchdowns with it. Lacy was a key piece of the Packers’ 2014 league-leading offense. Lacy ran for 174 yards in the 2014 postseason.
Lacy finished his career as No. 12 on the Packers All-Time rushing list. His 23 rushing touchdowns are No. 17 in franchise history.
Injuries kept him from consistently seeing the field the following year. After that, Lacy played one more season with the Packers but was injured after five games and was out for the season.
He signed a one-year contract with the Seattle Seahawks. The 2017 season was his last season in the NFL
