Dorsey Levens was born in Syracuse, New York and attended Nottingham High School. Levens was a well-known name around town after rushing for 1,062 yards in his senior season and scoring 22 touchdowns. He finished his high school career with 3,161 yards and 50 touchdowns.
Levens was a big recruit out of high school and committed to Notre Dame to play football.
Levens was part of a depth chart of running backs at Notre Dame that had five other future pro players. After injuring his knee, Levens considered his options and decided to transfer to Georgia Tech.
After sitting out the first year at Georgia Tech due to transfer policies at the time, Levens came into the 1993 season and delivered a strong performance. He finished the season with 823 yards and 8 touchdowns.
After finishing his senior season, Levens was drafted in the fifth round as the 149th overall pick of the 1994 NFL Draft.
After a slow start in the NFL with the Packers, Levens had a breakout performance in the 1997 season. After starting all 16 games played in, Levens finished the season with 1,435 rushing yards and seven touchdowns. He also caught five receiving touchdowns. This outstanding performance earned him an All-Pro selection and was a big part in their season ending with a Super Bowl berth. Levens was a member of the Packers Super Bowl-winning team in 1996 as well.
Levens would go on to have one more season with a season of over one thousand yards in 1999. He also had nine rushing touchdowns. He would play 11 seasons in the NFL with a total of 4,955 yards rushing for his career with 36 touchdowns.
