Allen Lazard was born in Des Moines, Iowa and attended Urbandale High School. He became a well-known name in high school football due to his size at the wide receiver position. The 6’5 receiver finished his high school career with 2,349 receiving yards and 27 touchdowns.
He was ranked the number one player in the state of Iowa and a 4-star recruit in his senior year, in which he tallied 1,065 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns. He was invited to play in 2014 USA Army All-America Bowl. He holds records in both offense and defense at Urbandale, including 14 career interceptions.
Lazard had many offers from schools mostly located in the Midwest, such as Iowa, Iowa State, Notre Dame, Nebraska. He ultimately committed to playing football at Iowa State.
Lazard handled the hype well going into his first season at Iowa State. He started the last 11 games of the season and was second on the team in receptions and yards.
In his junior season, Lazard was nominated first-team All-Big-12. He led the team in receiving yards with 1,018 and 7 touchdowns. He set a new record for 100-yard games with six in the season.
Lazard solidified himself as the best receiver to come through Iowa State in 2017. For his last season, Lazard had 941 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns.He holds five records for the Cyclones and caught a pass in all 48 games he played in, which was the most of any active player. He was also named All-Big-12 for a second straight year.
He would go on to be undrafted but was picked up by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2017.
After being waived by the Jaguars, the Green Bay Packers picked him off waivers. After only appearing in one game his rookie season, Lazard became part of the normal rotation for the offense.
In 2019 Lazard played in all 16 games while starting three. He scored his first career touchdown off a 35-yard pass from Aaron Rodgers in week six. He finished that year with 477 yards receiving and three touchdowns.
His best year came in his last season with the Packers. Lazard started all 15 games he played and caught 70 passes for 788 total yards while scoring 6 touchdowns. He had a catching percentage of 60 percent and completed 45 plays that resulted in a first down for the Packers that season.
Lazard signed a 4-year 44-million-dollar deal with the New York Jets in 2023. He is in the second year of his contract.
