The Georgia Bulldogs are ranked as the top college football team in the country. The Georgia Football program is among the best in the nation and has been for quite some time. Several former Georgia Football players are now high-profile NFL players. In the past, Mayfield Sports Marketing has coordinated several events and signings with some of these Georgia athletes.

Former Georgia Football Player & Packers' Rookie Quay Walker

The Green Bay Packers made Quay Walker the first of their first-round picks in the 2022 NFL Draft. Walker played for Georgia from 2018-2021. He first saw consistent playing time in 2019 when he played in 11 games. Walker had 23 tackles that season, including 2.5 sacks. In 2020, Walker nearly doubled his tackle numbers, racking up 43 in 10 games. Of course, Georgia Football and it's players won the National Championship in 2021, and Walker was a big part of the defense that led them. That year, Walker had 65 tackles, including 5.5 for a loss. He also deflected three passes.

Since joining the Packers, Quay Walker has started every game that they have played. When All-Pro De’Vondre Campbell went down with an injury, the Packers gave Walker the green dot. He has truly emerged as a great young leader on the defense. So far this season, he is the only rookie defender to amass five tackles or more in each game that he has played.

Former Georgia Bulldog & Packers' CB Eric Stokes

Current Green Bay cornerback Eric Stokes is another one of the former Georgia Football players on the Packers, playing in Athens from 2018-2020. The speedy defensive back made a splash in his freshman season, scoring a touchdown on the only punt he attempted to return. He played in nine games and recorded 20 tackles. During his sophomore season in 2019, Stokes played 13 games, recorded 38 tackles, and forced a fumble. He also recorded a sack during this campaign. 2020, his Junior season, saw Stokes elevate his game even more. In nine games, Stokes had 20 tackles and four interceptions. He returned two of those four interceptions for touchdowns.

Eric Stokes was one of the latest Georgia Football players to move to Green Bay when the Packers took him in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft. He started 14 games for the Packers as a rookie while playing in 16. Stokes deflected 14 passes and had an interception. The most impressive stat, though, was a 49.5% completion percentage.

Former Georgia Football Player & NFL Hall-of-Famer Champ Bailey

Even when he was in college, it was easy to see that Champ Bailey would be a special player. Alongside a talented group of Georgia Football players, Bailey did it all. As a wide receiver, he amassed 59 receptions for 978 yards and five touchdowns. This is quite impressive considering he only played receiver for two years. As a kick returner, he recorded 511 return yards on 23 kickoff returns, also in two seasons. As a defender, though, Bailey really stood out. In 1998, he won the Bronko Narguski Award, given to the nation’s most outstanding defensive player.

In an NFL Career that spanned 15 years, Bailey was a 12-time Pro Bowler and three-time All-Pro. His time spent with the Washington Commanders and Denver Broncos saw him amass 52 career interceptions, including 10 in 2006. Champ Bailey was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2019.

Champ Bailey, Tony Gonzalez, Ed Reed, London Fletcher and  are among first-year Hall of Fame nominees

Champ Bailey began his career with Washington in 1999 as the seventh overall draft choice. He moved to Denver in 2004, and led the NFL in interceptions with 10 in 2006. Bailey, who also dabbled on offense, had 52 career picks, made three All-Pro teams and also was on the all-decade team of 2000-2010. Bailey and Ed Reed were standout defensive backs for stout units. The 24th overall draft selection in 2002, Reed played 11 seasons in Baltimore, three times leading the league in interceptions. Among his 64 career picks were returns for touchdowns of 106 and 107 yards. He made five All-Pro squads, was the 2004 Defensive Player of the Year, and joined Gonzalez on the all-decade team. Reed won a Super Bowl in the 2012 season.

Gonzalez retired in 2013 after 17 pro seasons in which he had 1,325 receptions, second to Jerry Rice on the career list. A college basketball and football star at California, he was drafted 13th overall by the Chiefs in 1997 and played a dozen seasons in Kansas City. Gonzalez spent his final five seasons with Atlanta, finishing with 111 touchdown catches and 15,127 yards receiving. He made six All-Pro teams and was a member of the all-decade team for 2000-10

Finalists from 2018 who are nominated again include running back Edgerrin James; wide receiver Isaac Bruce; offensive linemen Kevin Mawae, Steve Hutchinson, Alan Faneca and Tony Boselli; safety John Lynch; and cornerback Ty Law.

The roster of nominees has 47 offensive players, 39 defensive players, five special teams players and 11 coaches. Among those coaches are Super Bowl champions Bill Cowher, Tom Flores, Mike Holmgren, Jimmy Johnson and Dick Vermeil.

The modern-era nominees will be reduced to 25 semifinalists in November and, from there, to 15 finalists in January. A senior committee finalist, former Chiefs defensive back Johnny Robinson, and two finalists from the contributors category, Broncos owner Pat Bowlen and former Cowboys executive and current NFL consultant Gil Brandt, also have been nominated.

Voting by the 48-member Hall of Fame panel will be held Feb. 2, the day before the Super Bowl, in Atlanta. Inductions in the Canton, Ohio, shrine will be in early August.
