Acquired as sixth overall in 1999 out of North Carolina State University, Holt controlled the Rams’ O-line and right then showed flash. As a newbie, he played a main role in the franchise’s triumph in Super Bowl XXXIV, recording 11 catches for 109 yards and a TD against the Titans. From that point forward, he became one of the most trustworthy receivers in football.
From 2000 to 2007, the star had eight straight seasons with at least 1,000 yards. Not many WRs in the league have been able to do that well. He caught 1,696 yards in 2003, the most in the NFL, and was named to the First Team All-Pro.
Beyond the stats, Holt carved the identity of the Rams’ “Greatest Show on Turf” era. His route precision, body control, and toughness over the middle made him a nightmare for defenses. He complemented fellow stars while still standing out as one of the most trustworthy WRs of the 2000s. The league knew his impact with seven Pro Bowl selections and a spot on the NFL 2000s All-Decade Team.
In an interview with FanDuel TV on Feb. 13, 2026, Holt reflected on his standing among the game’s greats. “My resume hasn't changed and the film doesn't lie. I was the most productive wide receiver of the 2000s,” he said.
