Karl Brooks decided Green Bay’s Week 11 game against the Chicago Bears with a blocked field goal on the final play, sealing a 20–19 Packers win at Soldier Field during the 2024 season.
With time expired, Bears kicker Cairo Santos attempted a 46-yard field goal to win the game. Brooks pushed through the interior of the line and blocked the kick as the clock hit zero, ending the game quickly.
The matchup earned Brooks the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week. It was one of the rarest finishes in NFL history, marking only the fourth time since 1995 that a game ended on a blocked field goal attempt under 50 yards.
Sources revealed that it was the first time since the 1970 merger that the Packers blocked a field goal with under a minute remaining in the fourth quarter or later. It was also just the second time in NFL history that Packers blocked a field goal on the final play of a game decided by three points or fewer.
Karl Brooks' Postgame Remark After Remarkable Performance
Brooks sealed the day with 2 tackles, one QB pressure, and played 29 defensive snaps. The block was the second of his NFL career after blocking a kick in 2023 as a rookie.
After the stunning performance, Brooks said, "Everybody just surrounded me and grabbed me, and then I saw Rich, and I gave him a hug, so that was cool.” "I'm visualizing myself blocking the kick. And like I said, I just wanted it more. I just fired off the ball and wanted to get a win.”
In 2026, Brooks didn't play much due to an injured ankle. He’d made 17 tackles plus one kick stopped across ten matches. Still, the champ stands tall alongside the NFL’s top players.
