Production backed the reputation. Reed finished his career with 951 receptions for 13,198 yards and 88 touchdowns. He recorded 36 career 100-yard receiving games for Buffalo. During the Bills’ run of four consecutive AFC Championships from 1990 through 1993, Reed consistently converted critical third downs in the no-huddle system.
On Aug. 2, 2014, during his Pro Football HOF induction speech in Canton, Reed acknowledged Kelly for believing in him during the offense’s early days. That bond defined an era.
