The Cowboys did not trade for Kenny Clark to be a backup piece. They brought him to fix a problem in the middle of their defense. Dallas struggled to stop inside runs last season. Now they have a veteran who plays strong, fast, and angry in the trenches. The big question is simple. How much can Clark still give at age 30?

Kenny Clark Adds Power, Experience, and an Edge that Dallas Badly Lacked

Kenny Clark

Big D landed Clark just days before Week 1, and he jumped straight into action on Sept. 5, 2025, against Philadelphia. He played 40 defensive snaps even though he had just learned the playbook. That tells you how badly the Cowboys needed him.

Clark’s biggest value comes against the run. He holds his ground. He does not get pushed off the ball. When he locks into a gap, runners have to bounce outside. That helps linebackers flow cleanly to the ball. Teammates noticed it right away.

“That man is fire,” Cowboys edge rusher Sam Williams said on Sept. 9, during a media session at The Star in Frisco, per CBS. “He’s violent. He’s attacking. He’s disruptive.” Williams said Clark’s energy spreads across the line. That kind of tone matters in a defence that looked soft inside at times last year.

Clark also brings pass rush from the interior. He is not just a space eater. He owns multiple seasons with five or more sacks in his career. Interior pressure forces quarterbacks to move off their spot. That helps Big D edge rushers finish plays. Even when Clark does not get the sack, he collapses the pocket.

There is also the experience factor. Clark entered the league in 2016. He has played playoff games and big division battles. Dallas has young tackles like Mazi Smith and others who are still learning. Clark gives them a steady voice next to them.

Of course, this is not a ten-year solution. Clark turns 30 this season. Interior linemen take a beating every snap. Dallas needs impact now, not later. That is why this move makes sense in the short term.

If Clark keeps controlling the middle, Dallas’ defence gets tougher on early downs. That leads to more third-and-long situations. That is where this defence can hunt. That is exactly why the Cowboys made this move.

LeRoy Butler’s journey still matters in the NFL. Long after his NFL tenure ended, he remains a figure players respect. His journey from humble roots to HOF safety at Green Bay is part of how he inspires today’s generation. His words, actions, and connection to fans show why his legacy lives on.

LeRoy Butler’s Legacy and the Lessons That Still Matter

LeRoy Butler

LeRoy Butler spent 12 seasons with the Green Bay Packers from 1990 to 2001. He was a four‑time first‑team All‑Pro and helped the team win Super Bowl XXXI. He also invented the Lambeau Leap, a tradition where players jump into the stands to greet fans after big moments. The leap is now one of football’s signature traditions and stands for fan connection and joy in sport.

Football historians credit Butler with redefining the safety position. He became the first DB in NFL history to record 20 sacks and 20 interceptions.

Off the field, Butler’s character and remarks reflect values players still admire. At his HOF induction in August 2022, he spoke about patience and perseverance. “I’ve been a patient person my whole life,” he said, recalling his childhood struggle to walk and his long wait for Canton, Ohio honors.  Those remarks show younger players how persistence matters, even beyond talent.

Butler’s reflections on gratitude and connection also resonate. In a feature after his Hall of Fame election, he said the greatest gift of football was building friendships and bonds with fans and communities. “The best gift the NFL has ever given me is making friends, family, fans and being able to connect,” he said, showing the broader life lessons from the sport.

His work outside football adds another layer to his ability to inspire today’s players. Butler publicly supports causes tied to mental health and community service, partly shaped by his own life experiences with negativity and overcoming obstacles. “Mentors are everything for our communities,” he said in a Wisconsin interview about his mentoring work.

Karl Brooks does not demand attention. He earns it. While the focus around Green Bay’s D-line often drifts toward first-round picks and headline names, Brooks continues to add value snap by snap. His role may not always show up in strong figures, but his influence has always been consistent, even through physical setbacks.

Karl Brooks Kept Flashing Despite Disrupted Rhythm

Karl Brooks

Brooks came into the league as a sixth-round pick in 2023, and he has already forged his identity. He wins with leverage, quick hands, and timing. Through the season, the superstar had 28 total tackles, eight solo stops, and half a sack. Those figures came in a rotational role that shifted week to week.

Mainly, the star was limited due to his health concerns. The star dealt with an ankle injury late in the season, which messed up his season. Not only that, the star missed the Packers' Thanksgiving victory over the Lions, then came back after logging a full practice week. Then on Dec. 5, the Packers officially bring him back vs. the Bears, with reporter Wes Hodkiewicz assuring he carried no injury status moving into the game.

Even with that disruption, DL continued to prove why coaches trust him. Earlier in the year, he flashed interior pressure in key stretches, collapsing pockets and forcing quarterbacks to move off their spots. His efficiency remains his calling card. The star ranked in the 75th percentile among interior defenders in hurries per pass rush opportunity since entering the league. He produced 21 quarterback hurries in each of his first two seasons, despite playing fewer pass-rush snaps in his second year.

That consistency matters in Green Bay’s rotation-heavy front. Brooks also ranked in the 69th percentile in sacks per opportunity over his first two seasons, with four sacks each year. Pro Football Focus metrics placed him in the 71st percentile for pass-rush productivity, reinforcing that he makes the most of limited chances.

DL spoke about that fit during Packers training camp on Aug. 4, 2024, in comments reported by SI.com. “You can play fast and free in this defense,” he said during a media availability tied to Family Night. “That’s when I’m at my best.”

That frame of mind shows up on game days. Brooks does not need starter volume to matter. He brings pressure, discipline, and reliability. Even when an ankle issue interrupted his flow, the flashes stayed.

That is why Karl Brooks remains overlooked. Not because he lacks impact, but because he delivers it quietly. And in Green Bay, that kind of consistency usually earns a longer look.

Evan Williams is not just any player; he has become one of the most trustworthy defensive guys in Green Bay. Acquired in the fourth round in 2024, he wasn't expected to show flashes this early. Still, by his second season, he had turned into an asset in key moments. His growth is not about speed or hype. It is about timing, instincts, and getting things when it matters most.

How Evan Williams turned Instincts into a Real NFL Edge

Williams does not win with size or track speed. He wins with anticipation. He reads QB'S, studies route patterns, and moves quicker than most of the defensive guys at his position. That trait allows him to arrive at the ball before the receiver finishes the break.

That skill set showed up all throughout the season. The star finished with over 100 total tackles and three interceptions, leading all Packers safeties in both categories. Those credentials were earned while rotating through deep safety, box roles, and slot coverage.

His key moment came in Week 11 Vs. The N.Y. Giants. With Green Bay protecting a late lead, Williams jumped an in-breaking route and intercepted the pass to seal the game. After the stunning victory on Nov. 17, 2025, he told reporters in the postgame locker room that film study helped him recognise the concept before the snap.

The star also brings value against the run. On Dec. 2, 2025, against Detroit, he recorded nine tackles and several stops near the line of scrimmage. After that game, he said in his press meet that he takes pride in playing physical and “being where the ball is going, not where it’s been.”

His college path explains that mindset. In 2023, he led the Ducks with 82 tackles in Oregon. Before that, he was a multi-year starter at Fresno State. He played several roles in both systems, which helped him adapt quickly to the Packers' setup.

DB coach Ryan Downard praised his calibre during a media session on August 5, 2025, saying that Williams processes information more quickly than most athletes. That trust is why he now lines up next to Xavier McKinney in key situations.

Williams may not chase headlines, but his impact still steals the show. And that’s why he is a hidden gem in the Packers' secondary.

The Green Bay Packers have spent the past few seasons searching for a reliable addition to the  defense. The league has talent, but the unit has lacked consistency at the point of attack. In main games and in short-yardage moments, the run lanes have opened, and pressure has come in streaks rather than waves. Now, as the team moves to the offseason, the crew need answers from younger players. One name is rising in importance. Karl Brooks. He has not yet been a full-time starter, but his firm production is forcing league circles to rethink the interior rotation.

Brooks enters his third NFL season at a moment that feels decisive. The defense still messes up with the line of scrimmage for four quarters. The pass rush flashes, then disappears. Brooks stands right in the middle of that shift. His production, growth curve, and opportunity now connect in a way that could reshape Green Bay’s D-line future.

Why Karl Brooks Now Sits at the Center of Green Bay’s Defensive Plans

Karl Brooks

Brooks was a sixth-round pick by the Packers in the 2023 NFL Draft out of Bowling Green. In 2023 and 2024, he played in all 17 games each season, posting four sacks as a rookie and 3.5 sacks in 2024 with 24 tackles and six quarterback hits, according to official team stats. He also had team-leading three fumble recoveries in 2024. Those numbers stood out because few interior linemen produce turnovers at that rate.

Despite his playmaking, Brooks has room to grow in run defense. Pro Football Focus data shows his run-defense grade was lower than many peers at his position in 2024, and his 2025 run-defense grade stayed middling even as his snap count climbed.

That does not mean he lacks effort. Star-DL lined up all over the interior, and his snap count in 2025 ranked among the top third of DL. But consistency against downhill RBs still lags his pass-rush growth.

By 2025, Green Bay had reshuffled its defensive lineup. Starting roles opened up for Brooks, who stepped into seven games across the full sixteen-game slate. His numbers fell short, though - just a single sack alongside 28 total stops, according to deep-dive stats. Around that same stretch, late in November, Devonte Wyatt went down with an ankle issue that ended his year, clearing space up front for less experienced players.

Kenny Clark still contributes, but age and snap volume point to a transition. Green Bay’s defensive inconsistency in pressure and run-stopping makes internal development a priority. Brooks is now at the right point in the roster cycle to take on a bigger role.

Brooks has shown flashes of impact, durability, and playmaking since Day One. Now the opportunity to grow into a core defensive piece is real. If he tightens his run defense and builds on his production, the Packers may have found their next interior force.

The Packers had no answers on Jan. 5, 2026. Baltimore ran straight through them in a 41-24 loss that fell by halftime. The Ravens finished with 307 rushing yards at M&T Bank Stadium. Derrick Henry alone accounted for 216 of them. Green Bay defenders bounced off blocks. Gaps stayed open. The line lost control early and never recovered.

Injuries mattered, but they did not tell the whole story. Micah Parsons and Devonte Wyatt were both out, yet the bigger issue was the lack of a steady presence inside. The Packers needed someone to calm the chaos. Someone who knows how to anchor a front when things start slipping. That is why Kenny Clark’s name has come back into the picture.

Kenny Clark Still Brings Stability, Strength, and Trust

Kenny Clark

Clark remains one of the most dependable interior defenders in football. He does not chase headlines. He wins snaps. He holds ground. He forces offenses to adjust. Traded to Dallas in Aug. 2025 as part of the Micah Parsons deal, Clark continued to do what he has always done. He lined up, took on double teams, and kept the middle clean.

His future with the Big D, though, is not guaranteed. On Dec 23, 2025, Spotrac editor Mike Ginnitti addressed Clark’s contract on The Spotrac Podcast while discussing Dallas’ cap outlook.

“So what happens to Kenny Clark? There’s no guarantee,” Ginnitti said during the episode. “You can move on and free up $21.5 million. There’s a huge roster bonus in March. This is going to be a March situation.”

However, given his talent and prowess, he has a good chance of joining a reputable franchise.

If that door opens, Green Bay makes sense immediately. Clark knows the defense. He knows the building. He knows what winning football looks like in that locker room. Drafted 27th overall in 2016, he spent nine seasons becoming one of the quiet leaders of the franchise.

A reunion would also help Devonte Wyatt, who is expected back in 2026 after his Thanksgiving ankle injury. Clark’s presence would take pressure off younger linemen and bring order back to the interior.

The Packers want to compete again next season. The Ravens' loss showed what happens when there's no control up front. Bringing Kenny Clark back would not be nostalgia. It would be a smart move built on trust, toughness, and proven results.

Big D closed the season without a playoff run, but now football took a step back for DE Kenny Clark. The vet lineman shared a personal message on Insta that shifted focus away from wins and losses and toward family, gratitude, and perspective.

Early Sunday, Clark posted a series of photos featuring his father, Kenneth Clark Sr., alongside family moments. The caption conveyed calm reflection rather than heartbreak. It showed appreciation for time spent rather than focus on the pain of separation.

Clark's post reads, “God gave us 3 years to be with you again, and we enjoyed every second of it. I’m just thankful to be a part of your story, big homie. I love you ♾️ Rest In Peace, Dad 🕊️.”

The timing followed a challenging season for Dallas, yet Clark’s message carried clarity. It reminded fans and teammates that careers move fast, but personal moments matter more. Within minutes, the post drew attention from across the NFL, setting a supportive and respectful tone.

George Pickens and the NFL Community Support Kenny Clark in Tough Times

Kenny Clark

Green Bay Packers defensive lineman Kenny Clark speaks to media on May 10, 2023, at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wis.

Cowboys WR George Pickens was among those who responded publicly. Pickens commented directly under Clark’s Instagram post. His message stayed simple and sincere. “🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 prayers to you and your family,” Pickens wrote, reflecting the mood shared across the league.

Clark’s relationship with his father added depth to the moment. Kenneth Clark Sr. spent close to 19 years in prison while his son built his NFL career. Despite that distance, Clark often spoke about staying connected. When his father was released in 2023, the family reunited after nearly two decades apart. Those three years became central to Clark’s life, as he clearly acknowledged in his post.

Fans from different teams joined the conversation. Messages focused on family, faith, and appreciation for second chances. Many addressed Clark’s entire family, not just the player. The comments showed understanding rather than curiosity. Clark did not share the cause of death and did not follow up publicly.

As the Cowboys move into the offseason, Clark’s message continues to resonate. It highlighted maturity, gratitude, and balance.

Some NFL traditions feel artificial. The Lambeau Leap never did. It feels raw, nostalgic, and purely Green Bay, which is truly why it still matters more than 30 years later. Long before TD celebrations became a weekly ritual, one Packers legend followed his instincts and created something that stuck.

That day was Dec. 26, 1993. The Packers were playing the L.A. Raiders at home, under gray winter skies. By the fourth quarter, Green Bay had control—but what happened next stuck around. A quick throw from Raiders quarterback Jeff Hostetler landed in Randy Jordan's hands. In came Reggie White like a storm. He knocked the ball loose, grabbed it mid-stride, then hurled it sideways as he neared the sideline. Butler caught the toss on the run. From there, nothing blocked his path to the end zone.

Instead of slowing down or celebrating with teammates, Butler kept running. He pointed toward the south end zone crowd, took a leap at the wall, and fans instinctively reached out and pulled him up. The stadium exploded. No one called it anything at the time, but the Lambeau Leap had officially happened.

LeRoy Butler’s Play Gave the Leap Real Meaning

LeRoy Butler

Pro Football Hall of Famer LeRoy Butler shares his Draft Day story during a stop on the Business of the NFL Draft Tour in Neenah, Wis. on Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2024. Representatives from the Packers, Travel Wisconsin, Discover Green Bay, New North, and PMI are on a two-day tour around the state to promote the draft and share ideas with businesses and organizations on how to prepare for the influx of visitors that will be visiting Wisconsin and Green Bay in April 2025.

LeRoy Butler was not just some defensive back who happened to be in the right place at the right time. He was one of the elite and most complete athletes of his time. The veteran spent all 12 seasons of his football tenure with the Green Bay Packers from 1990 to 2001 and became the heart of the Packers’ D-line throughout the 1990s. He finished with 889 tackles, 38 INT, and over 20 sacks, numbers that show his versatility and consistency.

The 1993 season, which introduced the Lambeau Leap, also earned Butler his first AP All-Pro selection, showing that his impact went far beyond that one celebration. Years later, during a 2003 interview, Butler explained that the moment felt completely natural, saying the anticipation of fans waiting at the wall created a rush that even TDs could not match. He said the noise inside Lambeau Field reached a height he never experienced again.

As Green Bay’s success grew, so did the Leap. Back in the mid-nineties, wide receiver Robert Brooks made the Leap a regular thing.

Green Bay Packers safety Evan Williams made the team’s mindset clear before the postseason spotlight arrived.  Williams spoke to the media on Wednesday about the team's mindset going into the playoff game against the Chicago Bears.

We feel like we can compete with the best of the best in this league,” Williams said while speaking at Lambeau Field, days before Green Bay traveled to Chicago.

That mindset defined how the Packers play the game on Saturday, at Soldier Field. The crew came out sharp, built an early lead, and controlled much of the first half against a Bears team that entered riding momentum. The Packers played fast, trusted their assignments, and showed no hesitation in a hostile playoff environment.

Even after the game swung late, Williams’ comments did not feel empty. Green Bay did not arrive, hoping to hang around. The team arrived expecting to win, and that approach showed in the way it handled pressure early and stayed competitive until the final minutes.

Evan Williams’ Firm Presence Showed Packers’ Belief Despite Wild-Card Loss

The Bears had a 31-27  win, marking their first playoff victory since 2011. Chicago scored 25 points in the fourth quarter and advanced to the divisional round, but Williams remained a visible figure throughout the night.

While his role stayed measured, the safety stayed engaged in coverage, communicated on the back end, and played with discipline in key moments. His impact went beyond numbers. In a game that shifted emotionally and strategically, Williams stayed composed.

Williams finished the 2025 regular season with 100 combined tackles and three interceptions across 16 games, showing consistency throughout the year.

Playoff games often hinge on execution late, but belief sets the tone long before kickoff. Green Bay showed it belonged on the field, even as Chicago authored a historic rally.

The Packers left Chicago without the result they wanted, but Evan Williams’ words held weight. Green Bay competed, challenged a rival, and showed confidence on a playoff stage. The loss ended the run, but the mindset Williams described remains part of what defines this Packers group going forward.

Romeo Doubs changed the Packers’ wild-card game into a personal statement on Jan 11, at Soldier Field in Chicago. In a tight 31-27 loss to the Bears, the WR surged as the most dependable presence in Green Bay’s offense. Plus, the star had eight receptions for 124 yards and a TD on 11 targets, leading the team in every major receiving category.

The night showed why Doubs has earned Jordan Love’s trust. His one-yard TD catch came just after the two-minute warning in the second quarter, a moment that shifted momentum and settled the offense. In the fourth quarter, Doubs added a crucial 34-yard catch that shovelled Green Bay deep into scoring range. That drive ended with a missed field goal, but the play itself underlined Doubs’ ability to deliver in pressure situations. He also recovered a fumble, adding value beyond the receiving box score.

Romeo Doubs’ Rise Alludes Packers’ Offensive Growth

Clubhouse Live with Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs in the Fox Club at Fox Cities Stadium in Grand Chute, Wisconsin on Monday, December 15, 2025.
Wm. Glasheen USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin

Doubs’ playoff showing did not come out of nowhere. During the 2025 season, the champ had posted 55 catches for 724 yards and six TDs on 85 targets across 16 games. Accompanied by sky-high receptions. He proved he can stretch defenses while staying consistent. His route running improved over the season, and his hands remained reliable even as defensive attention increased.

The broader offensive picture supported that growth. Jordan Love threw for 323 yards and four touchdowns in the playoff loss, completing 24 of 46 passes without an interception. Jayden Reed added a receiving TD, while Matthew Golden scored in his postseason debut. Mainly, the team set an example of balance and resilience in those tough moments.

Their star—RB Josh Jacobs faced a tough night on the ground, rushing for 55 yards on 19 carries, which made Doubs’ production even more important. With Dontayvion Wick nursing his concussion, Doubs took on a leading role among the receivers. His outbreak helped to maintain offensive sync.

As the Packers entered a crucial phase, Doubs continued to show what he can bring to the table.  His playoff effort offered a clear view of his value. In a season-ending loss, the WR still managed to define his year and stands as a bulwark of the team's offense.
