Leroy Butler and Sheboygan’s 3 Sheeps Brewing got together on Saturday (April 19) for a Tailgate Party featuring Wisconsinitis beer, autograph signings, and a celebration of two things Wisconsinites hold dearly: football and beer.

Grant Pauly, founder and brewmaster of 3 Sheeps Brewing, spoke with SeehaferNews.com and shared what went into creating this unique event. “We have been toying around with the idea of doing a tailgate for years and realized, ‘Man, what better time than the weekend before the draft?’” Pauly said with a smile. “Get Leroy Butler to do some signings—just a great way to extend football season into April.”

A highlight of the event was the Wisconsinitis beer, which is made by Wisconsinites for Wisconsinites. Butler took notice of what the beer represents and said that’s why he chose to team up with 3 Sheeps for the event.

“I love people. I love Wisconsin,” the Packer and NFL Hall of Famer told SeehaferNews.com. “This is what Wisconsin is all about, and the timing is impeccable with the draft coming.”

With his own Leap Spirits company, Butler is no stranger to the industry. He recognized what a great opportunity 3 Sheeps had to market themselves to a wider audience thanks to the NFL Draft.

Butler explained, “If it’s a brand that everybody knows, that’s good, I get it. But if it’s a brand you learn to love, it’s in your DNA. Because if you’re in Sheboygan, everybody knows about 3 Sheeps. But now it’s on a national audience.”

The local crowd in Sheboygan was especially eager to celebrate Wisconsinitis and meet the man credited with inventing the Lambeau Leap, as the line for autographs nearly reached out the door of the 3 Sheeps Taproom.

Partnering with Mayfield Sports Marketing, 3 Sheeps and their beer celebrating the state of Wisconsin was an easy choice for Butler—who originally comes from Florida but has called Wisconsin home since being drafted by the Packers in the 1990 NFL Draft.
