Eddie Lacy was born June 2, 1990 in Gretna, Louisiana. He attended Dutchtown High School in Geismar, Louisiana, where he had a stellar high school career. He rushed for over 3,000 yards over the span of his sophomore, junior and senior seasons. Scouts took notice, and he earned a four-star rating. He was also listed at 143 on ESPN's notorious top 150 at the time. He would accept a scholarship to go play for Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Eddie Lacy College Career

Eddie Lacy joined a loaded running back room at Alabama. The presence of Mark Ingram and Trent Richardson led to Lacy being redshirted as a freshman. That team went on to win the 2009 BCS National Championship. In 2010 Lacy found a spot on the team behind Ingram and Richardson. He went on to have a good season despite being behind to Alabama greats.

In 2011, after Mark's departure to the NFL, Eddie Lacy burst onto the scene. He ran for over 600 yards and seven touchdowns while sharing the backfield with Trent Richardson. He would also win a second BCS National Championship.

The 2012 season was Lacy's final and best season in Tuscaloosa. He was the true starter for the first time in college and ran for 1,322 yards and 17 touchdowns. He also caught two touchdowns. In the BCS Championship Game against Notre Dame, he had 140 rushing yards and two total touchdowns. This earned him the honor of Offensive MVP of the game. He would declare for the NFL Draft after the season concluded.

Lacy was the fourth running back selected in the 2013 NFL Draft when Ted Thompson and the Green Bay Packers picked him at 61 overall.

In his rookie season, Lacy was an instant difference-maker. He ran for 1,178 yards and 11 touchdowns in his first year and was named AP NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year. He would also earn AP Second-Team All-Pro honors. Lacy would play three more seasons in Green Bay and rush for 12 touchdowns before signing with the Seattle Seahawks.
