One of the questions being talked about at Green Bay Packers training camp this summer is who will be Davante Adams backup as the #2 wide receiver?

It appears that Geronimo Allison will have earned that spot. He continues to impress his teammates as he works his way back from an injury that sidelined him for a good chunk of the 2018 season.

He even got some pretty high praise from Adams himself recently.

“I think Matt [LaFleur] has really tested him or challenged him to widen it out so he can play multiple spots. … Him being able to move around right now and be healthy, be himself and just play, being able to have all those things, it’s going to be dangerous.”

Last season, Geronimo Allison was dealing with a core muscle injury and ended up requiring surgery. He has reported to ESPN that surgery was successful and that he had a very productive rehab period.

When we last saw the Packers, Allison was an unrestricted free agent. He signed a one-year contract with Green Bay that is worth $2.8 million not including his signing bonus.

Allison is currently the Packers second-most experienced wide receiver, behind only Adams. As he enters his fourth season playing at Lambeau Field, he has caught 55 passes worth 758 yards in 30 NFL games with 4 touchdowns to his credit. He will see competition for the spot with Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Jake Kumerow.

Green Bay Packers players and coaches agree that one of the players to keep an eye on during the 2019 season is nose tackle Kenny Clark. The UCLA standout, taken 27th overall in the 2016 NFL draft, has consistently shown a high work ethic and desire to improve.

Here’s what Blake Martinez, inside linebacker, had to say recently to Forbes Magazine concerning Clark:

“I tell him every single week that he makes my job that much easier because he’s taking double teams, triple teams, still making plays. And he, once again, is a guy that has extremely high character, extremely high work ethic and every single day he’s doing things to get 1-to-2 percent better and it’s kind of scary to know that he still is getting
better.”

The 2018 Season Was A Success

Clark played 13 games before being put on injured reserve with an injury to his elbow. Despite the injury, he still managed to accumulate four sacks, 26.5 pressures, and 55 tackles.

His 26.5 pressures were a team-best. Clark was second on the team in takeaways with three and he only missed four tackles all season. It really is no wonder that Pro Football Focus recently listed Clark as the 37th best overall player in the NFL for 2019 and the fourth-best interior defensive player.

The Future Looks Bright For Kenny Clark

Kenny Clark

It’s a testament to Clark’s work ethic and dedication that he has progressed this far in such a short time. The future looks very bright as Clark is only 23 years old and is ready to take his place as a valued piece of the Green Bay defense.

Many fans believe Clark is in a prime position to receive a large contract if the 2019 season is a breakthrough. Right now, Clark is signed through 2020 with a $7.69 million salary that final season. If his production continues to improve, he should be looking at a new contract worth $16-17 million per year.

With standout athletes such as Kenny Clark available for endorsements, appearances, and motivational speaking, it’s no wonder that Mayfield Sports Marketing has become a sports marketing leader in Wisconsin. Mayfield Sports is proud to work with our friends at Creative Management Group on projects for Kenny Clark. When the experts at Pro Football Focus decide to release a list of the Top 10 running backs in the NFL for the 2019 season, people take notice. It wasn’t a surprise to see Green Bay Packers third-year wide receiver Aaron Jones on that list.

Jones landed in the #8 spot on the list, sharing the spotlight with other noted running backs such as Saquon Barkley, Christian McCaffrey, and Alvin Kamara.

A Stellar 2018 Season For Jones

Aaron Jones

Aaron Jones had a very good stat line last season, with 728 rushing yards and 8 touchdowns in 12 games played. Jones averaged 5.5 yards per carry and got a first down on 30.8% of his carries.

His receiving game was also efficient. Jones finished the season with 26 catches and one receiving touchdown.

As he enters the 2019 season, under new head coach Matt LaFleur, Jones hopes to improve his game. He points to having only three games with 15 or more carries in 2018 as inspiration to improve.

What’s In Store For 2019?

In a quest to become the centerpiece of the Packers redesigned offense, as well as the desire to be named to the Pro Bowl for the first time, Jones has spent a considerable portion of the offseason getting into shape and preparing for an offense tailor-made for Jones.

With an outside-zone running scheme that is perfect for Jones style of play -- pure slash and dash -- the stage is set for a breakout year for the Packers and Aaron Jones. In addition to Aaron Jones, other Mayfield Sports athletes represented on the PFF Top Running Backs of 2019 list include Melvin Gordon of the Chargers and Alvin Kamara of the Saints.

Football is back in Green Bay! After a thrilling 28-26 win over the Houston Texans in the first game of the preseason, the Packers hit the road for their second preseason tilt on August 15th against the Baltimore Ravens. Unfortunately, the boys got bit, falling to the Ravens 26-13.

First-year coach Matt LaFleur is hoping to resurrect Packer's greatness, and many preseason pundits have Green Bay winning no less than 12 games this year and taking the NFC North crown. The 2019 preseason promises to be interesting for LaFleur, as he develops a working relationship with future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers and installs new offensive and defensive schemes.

The Preseason Schedule

Packer Houston game

Up next, the Packers head west to take on a woeful looking Oakland Raiders team. Because of ongoing stadium issues in Oakland, this game will be played in Winnipeg.  Adding even more fuel to the fire is the upcoming visit to Lambeau by the Raiders on October 20.

The final preseason game also is against a team the Packers will see during the regular season, the Kansas City Chiefs. Given that this is the final preseason game, don’t expect to see the regular season starters on the field for any significant playing time. Instead, the much-anticipated matchup between Aaron Rodgers and Patrick Mahomes will have to wait until the October 27 tilt at Arrowhead Stadium.

A Successful Training Camp

Jaire Alexander
Image via Packers Wire - USA Today

Provided Rodgers and LaFleur click and work together well, this season has the potential to be a championship year for the Packers. The key will be the defense, anchored by players such as Jaire Alexander and Rashan Gary. Alexander is already getting All-Pro buzz, while Gary is showing everyone why he was worth a first-round draft pick. There is also noticeable improvement with players such as Kenny Clark, who is looking to build on previous success.

The offense is showing championship stuff as well. Davante Adams looks to be a key piece in Coach LaFleur’s system and it will not be surprising to see a high touchdown total for him by the end of the season. This looks like the season that Aaron Jones gets 1,000 rushing yards. The Packers offense is also looking for improvement from players such as Geronimo Allison, resigned by the Packers after an injury-shortened 2018 season.

Champ Bailey

Champ Bailey Hall of Fame Canvas

One of the best defensive players in NFL history and a member of the Denver Broncos 50th Anniversary team, Champ Bailey redefined the cornerback position in the modern era. With 908 tackles and 52 interceptions (four of which were returned for touchdowns), Bailey was selected to the Hall on his first ballot.

A three-time first-team All-Pro and 12 time Pro Bowler, Bailey currently ranks 26th on the all-time NFL interception list. He played in 11 playoff games with the Broncos and helped them reach Super Bowl XLVIII in his final season.

Ed Reed

Ed Reed

The 2004 NFL Defensive Player of the Year, Baltimore Raven Ed Reed joins the HOF on his first ballot, and it’s easy to see why. The list of accomplishments in his twelve-year NFL career is lengthy: Pro Bowl nine times, first-team All-Pro five times, Super Bowl XLVII champion. Reed was an integral part of a Ravens defensive unit that was the best in the league for nearly a decade.

With 64 career interceptions, Reed currently sits number seven all time, and he is tied for 11th place on the NFL’s career pick-six list. Reed is the second Ravens defensive player in as many years to be inducted after Ray Lewis went in last year.

Tony Gonzalez

Tony Gonzalez

Fans of the Kansas City Chiefs and the Atlanta Falcons know that, without question, Tony Gonzalez is the best tight end ever to play the game. There is no other tight end in NFL history with more receiving yardage or total catches than Gonzalez. When he finished his career at age 37, he had amassed 1,325 receptions resulting in 15,127 receiving yards and 111 touchdowns.

In the NFL’s record books, Gonzalez currently ranks #8 in receiving touchdowns, #6 in receiving yardage, and #2 (behind the great Jerry Rice) in total receptions. Not bad for a two-sport athlete out of Berkeley (yes, in addition to playing football, he led Cal to a Sweet Sixteen berth in the NCAA basketball tournament)!

Ty Law

Ty Law

The third time's the charm for New England Patriots defensive standout, Ty Law. During a ten year career with the Patriots, Law helped the team go to four Super Bowls and walked away with a ring three times. Law currently ranks #24 on the NFL’s all-time interception list and #11 on the pick-six list.

After finishing his career with the Jets, Chiefs, and Broncos, Law’s final career stat line includes 53 interceptions with seven returned for touchdowns, 838 tackles, five sacks, and five fumble recoveries. His interception for a touchdown in Super Bowl XXXVI remains one of the greatest moments in Patriots football history.

Fan-favorite Allison to host bi-weekly show opposite of The Kenny Clark Show

Mayfield Sports, Sports Radio 107.5 & 1400 The Fan, and Green Bay Packer wide receiver Geronimo Allison finalized talks for the first season of the “Geronimo Allison Show” joining co-host Bob Watts for a bi-weekly radio show on Sports Radio 107.5 and 1400 The Fan.

The live one-hour radio show is broadcasted from the Green Bay Distillery located at 835 Mike McCarthy Way in Green Bay, Wisconsin and airs Wednesday evenings from 6 - 7 p.m. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. for fans to come be part of the live audience and have a chance to win weekly prizes.

Geronimo Allison

No stranger to weekly shows, Allison has appeared both on “The Steve Harvey Show” and “The Mike McCarthy Show” this last year. Alternating bi-weekly with “The Kenny Clark Show”, Packer teammates will join #81 to talk football and life in Green Bay each week during the regular NFL season and playoffs when the Packers are playing. There is no show during Packer’s bye week.

Geronimo Allison

Geronimo Allison deal

Signed by the Green Bay Packers in 2016, Allison started with the Packer’s practice squad before earning his first NFL debut in week 8 against the Atlanta Falcons where he earned his first NFL reception in the form of a four-yard touchdown. He saw career bests of 6 receptions and 122 yards in Week 3 of the 2017 season while finishing the season with 23 receptions, fourth among Green Bay’s receivers. A concussion and groin surgery saw his 2018 season, which started out well with 19 receptions for 289 yards and 2 touchdowns, cut short, but fans need not worry as he was re-signed by the Packers on March 13, 2019.

Over 300 children came out to Wilmer Amina Carter High School for Kenny Clark's Football camp for an opportunity to play football and learn life lessons with former Carter alum and current Green Bay Packers defensive lineman, Kenny Clark at his “Dreams Come True” football camp.

"Dream Come True" Football Camp

This is the third year for Kenny Clark's football camp and the participant numbers keep going up. The turnout for this year’s camp was amazing and provided an opportunity for one of San Bernardino’s finest sons to return home and give back to the community that gave him his start.

The kids spent the day participating in football drills, learning new skills and hearing valuable life lessons not only from Clark himself but also a handful of other NFL players such as Clark’s Green Bay teammate Jamaal Williams, Atlanta Falcons safety Damontae Kazee, Tampa Bay Buccaneer Caleb Benenoch, and Tennessee Titan Jayon Brown.

The camp was sponsored by Angel Tree, a division of Prison Fellowship, a group which Clark personally supports.

Angel Tree and Prison Fellowship

Prison Fellowship and Angel Tree

There are currently 2.7 million children who are experiencing what life is like with a parent who is incarcerated. For Kenny Clark, his experience having a father in prison in San Luis Obispo made him very grateful for the support he received from Angel Tree.

Angel Tree has numerous programs to help support children and make sure their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs are met. Beyond their signature Christmas gift program, the group also runs sports clinics, camping programs, as well as one-on-one mentoring for children dealing with the shame and loneliness that comes with having an incarcerated parent.

A four-star recruit at Carter High School, Kenny Clark went on to a first-team All-Pac-12 and third-team All-American career at UCLA.  After a standout junior year capped by a career-best 11 tackle performance in the Foster Farms Bowl, Clark declared for the draft and was taken 27th overall by the Green Bay Packers in the 2016 NFL draft.

His 2018 season proved to be a breakout season, as he recorded 55 tackles and six sacks. He was named a Pro Bowl alternate and was rewarded with the Packers picking up the fifth-year on his contract. One of the stars of the DL, Clark is looking forward to the 2019 season and hopes to bring a championship back to Green Bay.

Kenny Clark can be heard bi-weekly on Sports Radio 107.5 and 1400 The Fan on “The Kenny Clark Show”, broadcast live on Wednesday nights at the Green Bay Distillery from 6-7 PM. He is currently available for player appearances and autograph sessions, as well as endorsement opportunities through Mayfield Sports.
